Procedure Description:
Aeroallergen and Food skin prick testing
What To Expect:
Your sensitivity to various airborne allergens (such as pollen or spores)
and foods is determined by scratching the surface of the skin with a sharp
plastic device. The results are interpreted within 20 minutes.
Pre-procedure:
No antihistamines can be taken ten days prior to skin
testing. This includes Allegra, Claritin, Clarinex,
Zyrtec, and a variety of over the counter
antihistamines including Benadryl.
Post-procedure:
If you have allergies you will experience itching on
your back at the site of skin testing.
